Twitter reaction to Maple Leafs unveiling new logo

The Toronto Maple Leafs not only battled from two down to send the game to overtime against the pesky Bruins, they also ended up notching their first overtime victory this season, and so their first time using the 3-on-3 format.

Expectations were high but the Toronto Maple Leafs delivered.

The team unveiled its new logo Tuesday night after beating the Boston Bruins 4-3 in overtime. The logo, one they’ll begin using in 2016-17 during the franchise’s centennial anniversary, is a throwback to the logo used from 1938-1963. The team will unveil its new sweater at the 2016 NHL Draft.

Although the new logo is nearly identical to previous Leafs logos (Derek Zoolander thinks it looks totally different) and considering the Maple Leafs’ crest had remained virtually untouched since 1970, the vast majority of reaction to it was positive, including some from current members of the Leafs.

Others had some fun.

Here is a look at Leafs logos from years past.
