The Buffalo Sabres made it known that Ryan Miller was going to be traded and it didn’t take them long to make the move. The Sabres sent Miller and captain Steve Ott over to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for Jaroslav Halak, Chris Stewart, prospect William Carrier, a first-round pick in 2015 and a third-round pick in 2016.
The blockbuster deal quickly lit up Twitter.
Who has two thumbs and called "Miller to the Blues" months ago? THIS GUY! (Who has 200 thumbs and also called it? About 100 other people.)

Thank you to everyone in WNY. For the last 12 years you have made Buffalo and Rochester a great place to live and play.

Excited to be a member of the @StLouisBlues. After watching my cousin Kevin wear the blue note and one of my heroes, Cujo, this is great!

Both Ryan Miller (@RyanMiller3039) and Steve Ott (@otterN9NE) are on Twitter. Give them a nice welcome. #stlblues pic.twitter.com/pUwvMoIvpj

Sabres had TWO Captains to start the season, Thomas Vanek and Steve Ott, they traded them both! @Sportsnet @snhockeycentral
— Bob Torrens (@BobbyT52) March 1, 2014
Sabres first team to trade two captains in a single season?
— Damien Cox (@DamoSpin) March 1, 2014
Go home, St. Louis Blues. You're drunk.
— Dave Lozo (@DaveLozo) March 1, 2014
This clears the way for Ryan Callahan to captain the Sabres.

Told that the Sabres will pay difference between Halak and Miller salaries, which is 1.75 mil.

This seems like a good time to point out that the Blues have not been to the Stanley Cup Final in 42 years — the second longest drought.
— Ian Mendes (@ian_mendes) March 1, 2014
Hope Ryan Miller realizes that STL is a Bud town. "Miller Time" slogan might not fly. I think Blues fans will live. Right, @Jonssonville?
— Naila-Jean Meyers (@NailaJeanMeyers) March 1, 2014
Leafs are done with Sabres this season, but not Miller. Blues here March 25. Miller 31-15-4 in his career as a Leaf killer.

Even the prospect Buffalo gets, William Carrier, isn't bad. A late second-rounder in last year's draft who has produced a lot in QMJHL.
— James Mirtle (@mirtle) March 1, 2014
Great job Murray for playing game to make it seem Miller market was bigger than it was. Big part of me thinks STL could've played hard ball
— Andrew Walker (@FAN590Walker) March 1, 2014
If I'm the Flyers, I start making a heavy marketing blitz on the Buffalo market for the draft.
— Steve Lepore (@stevelepore) March 1, 2014
Sabres are 2-0 since the break and up 1-0 on the Sharks tonight. Glad to see Jaroslav Halak go to a true Cup contender.
— SportsPickle (@sportspickle) March 1, 2014
If Isles defer Vanek pick to next year, the Sabres have 3 first-rounders and 3 2nd-rounders in the 2015 draft.
