Roster hopefuls Nic Petan and Nikolaj Ehlers will be in the lineup for the Winnipeg Jets on Monday when they travel to Edmonton to take on the Oilers at 9 p.m. ET/7 p.m. MT.
The game will be streamed live on Sportsnet.ca to viewers in the Oilers broadcast region (Alberta, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories and Nunavut).
Ehlers, a first-round draft pick in 2014, had a strong game on Saturday in the Jets’ (1-2-0) 4-3 loss against the Minnesota Wild. The 18-year-old had an assist on Petan’s first-period goal and saw over 18 minutes of ice time.
Petan’s goal was his first point of the pre-season. A proven goal-scorer at the junior level with the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks, Petan put up 233 points in his last two years. Along with Ehlers, he has played in all of the Jets three pre-season games so far.
The Oilers (2-2-0) are coming off a shutout loss at the hands of the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday night in Saskatoon, Sask. Edmonton lost captain Andrew Ference to an arm injury when he blocked a shot in the first period. Ference played out the rest of the period but did not return for the rest of the game.
