WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Jets have signed defenceman Julien Brouillette to a one-year, two-way contract worth US$600,000 at the NHL level.

Brouillette, 27, made his NHL debut this past season for the Washington Capitals, recording a goal and an assist in 10 games.

The native of St-Esprit, Que., has spent the vast majority of his professional career in the minors, most recently with the AHL’s Hershey Bears.

Brouillette is likely to see time with the Jets’ top affiliate, the St. John’s IceCaps.

The five-foot-11, 185-pound defenceman played his junior hockey with the QMJHL’s Chicoutimi Sagueneens from 2003-’04 to 2006-’07.
