Yellowknife has been announced as the host of Hockey Day in Canada for 2020.
The annual hockey festival – which will celebrate the event’s 20th anniversary – will begin on Feb. 5, 2020 and will conclude three days later on Feb. 8.
“Hockey is in our DNA,” said Rebecca Alty, the mayor of Yellowknife, in a press release. “With many months of winter, Yellowknifers play hockey indoors in our top notch arenas, outdoors on the ice of Great Slave Lake and on many backyard rinks. Together with our partners, the Yellowknives Dene First Nation (YKDFN), we are thrilled to host the entire nation for Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada in February 2020. We look forward to celebrating the game we love and thank Sportsnet and Scotiabank for selecting our city.”
More details about the celebration and the broadcast will be announced in the coming months.
