The Kitchener Rangers restocked their draft cupboard on Tuesday, trading Carson Rehkopf to the Bampton Steelheads for 10 future Ontario Hockey League picks.
Rehkopf, 19, played the last three seasons for the Rangers and was drafted 50th overall by the Seattle Kraken in 2023. The left-shooting forward had 100 goals and 87 assists in 183 games for the Rangers in the last three seasons. He also played for Canada at the 2024 World Junior Hockey Championship.
In exchange, the Rangers will receive four draft picks in 2025, three in 2026, two in 2027, and one in 2028. Not all the picks come directly from the Steelheads, but were previously acquired draft capital by the team.
In June, the Flint Firebirds made a pair of trades that saw them give up 16 draft picks and two players in exchange for four players and a 2028 fourth-round pick.
