The United States National Junior team has released its camp roster for the 2025 World Junior Hockey Championship.
Among the 28 players named to the preliminary roster, 10 were a part of the gold-medal winning squad from last year's tournament.
The team is highlighted by goalie Trey Augustine, who's back for a third go-around, Washington Capitals forward prospect Ryan Leonard, and projected top-pick in the 2025 draft James Hagens.
"We've got an excellent group of players coming to our camp," said general manager John Vanbiesbrouck in a statement. "It's never easy to narrow it down and that's a credit to so many who have helped in developing our players."
Out of the 28 players, 24 have already been drafted into the NHL. Goalie Sam Hillebrandt and defencemen Blake Fiddler and Logan Hensler join Hagens as those who haven't been picked.
Will Smith is the most notable name left off the list. The 2023 fourth-overall pick by the San Jose Sharks is in the midst of his rookie season, recording 11 points through 22 games, and it seems unlikely given his play that he will be loaned to the junior squad.
The U.S. plays Germany on Dec. 26 in Ottawa to begin the tournament.
