Easton Cowan's chase of the Ontario Hockey League point streak record is officially back on.
The London Knights forward will return to the lineup against Owen Sound following a four-game absence, the team announced on Wednesday.
Cowan, 19, suffered a lower-body injury against the Saginaw Spirit on Nov. 23, subsequently pressing pause on his point streak. At 54 consecutive games with at least one point, Cowan is just one shy of tying the OHL record set by Doug Gilmour 41 years ago.
The Maple Leafs selected Cowan 28th overall in the first round of the 2023 Draft. Through 18 games with the Knights this season, he's logged 25 points (14 goals, 11 assists).
In 2023-24, Cowan racked up 96 points (34 goals, 62 assists) in 54 appearances.
Meanwhile, London has been on a roll with and without Cowan this season, entering Wednesday amid an 18-game win streak. The Knights's latest victory was a 10-3 rout of the Ottawa 67's.
