Memorial Cup in Saint John expected to be moved to later in June

On this edition of 32 Thoughts, Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek discuss the trade rumours around the NHL, Sarah Fillier's chosen representation & Tomas Hertl's contract situation.

The Memorial Cup, which is currently scheduled to take place June 4-13 in Saint John, N.B., is expected to be moved somewhere around June 19 or 20, according to Sportsnet's Jeff Marek.

"Looks like (the CHL is) going to give that city and that organization a little more runway, move it later on in June, maybe around the 19th or the 20th," said Marek during the 32 Thoughts segment on Hockey Night in Canada. "There is no desire to go into July."

The annual CHL tournament featuring the OHL, WHL and QMJHL champions plus a host team was cancelled in 2020 and 2021.

The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies won the tournament in 2019.
