The Ontario Hockey League has expelled Flint Firebirds president of hockey operations Terry Christensen for conduct that is "prejudicial to the welfare" of the major-junior league, the OHL announced Thursday.
The OHL says the move comes as a result of remarks he made that violated the OHL's Harassment & Abuse / Diversity Policy. No specifics about the remarks were provided.
"His conduct violated the League’s expectation of the appropriate conduct of a representative of an OHL Team and he has lost the privilege to participate in the League," the league said in a statement.
The investigation into Christensen's actions began after an allegation was brought forward via the OHL player communications system, the league said.
Christensen was hired by the Firebirds in May 2021.
In a release announcing his hiring, the Firebirds said his coaching experience included time with NCAA Division 1, the U.S. national junior team and Czech national junior team programs.
The move comes with the Firebirds sitting first in the Western Conference standings in the OHL.
