Another team in the QMJHL is dealing with an outbreak of COVID-19, with the Sherbrooke Phoenix announcing Thursday that eight active cases have been diagnosed.
The team’s activities continue to be suspended indefinitely.
The Phoenix played the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada twice last weekend. Eighteen members of the Armada organization are known to have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Since the beginning of this week, the Phoenix have been isolated and had been tested in accordance with the team’s protocols.
The QMJHL was the only major-junior hockey league in Canada to begin play around its original season start date. The OHL and WHL opted to postpone their season’s start date, aiming to begin the season in December.
