Western Hockey League commissioner Ron Robison announced that a series of investigations have found no evidence to support allegations against Everett Silvertips head coach and general manager Dennis Williams.
"Conducted by Kevan Stuart, WHL Head of Security, these investigations found no evidence to support any of the allegations made by Mr. Pugerude. The investigations also concluded that Mr. Williams did not violate WHL conduct policies," Robison writes in a statement.
TSN’s Rick Westhead reported earlier Saturday that Robison said the league was advised by USA Hockey that the U.S. Center for SafeSport had closed its investigation of a complaint made in May against Williams.
The WHL confirmed such in the statement, saying "on the evening of Friday, August 4, USA Hockey’s General Counsel informed the WHL that the US Center for SafeSport completed its own independent inquiry into the reported allegations concerning Mr. Williams.
"Based on the evidence and information currently available, the US Centre for SafeSport has closed the matter after reaching a similar conclusion to the investigations conducted by the WHL."
Williams, who also coached Team Canada to gold at the 2023 world junior hockey championship, has coached the Silvertips since 2017-18.
The U.S. Center for SafeSport was launched in 2017 to independently investigate instances of abuse of minors and Olympic athletes in the United States.
