Josh Zakreski netted the game-winning goal at 10:12 of the third period as the Portland Winterhawks defeated the Prince George Cougars 4-2 on Monday to advance in the Western Hockey League playoffs.
Alex Weiermair, Kyle Chyzowski and Diego Buttazzoni, with an empty-net goal, also scored for Portland, which won the best-of-seven first-round series 4-3.
Ondrej Štěbeták made 33 saves.
Lee Shurgot and Terik Parascak replied for Prince George, which got 19 stops from Joshua Ravensbergen.
Zakreski put the Winterhawks ahead for good after Shurgot knotted the game at 2-2 for the Cougars at 5:14 of the third period.

Lukas Kaplan scored in the second overtime frame as the Everett Silvertips topped the Seattle Thunderbirds in game six of their first round series to advance to the second round.
Raiden LeGall made 57 saves in the shutout win, while Seattle starter Scott Ratzlaff turned aside 47 of the 48 directed his way.
