The WHL’s Moose Jaw Warriors are starting a formal review of their primary logo, the silhouette of a person wearing an Indigenous headdress, the team announced Thursday.
“This represents the next step in what has been an ongoing internal discussion to this point in time,” said a statement from the team.
“The hockey club will engage with our stakeholders and community partners as part of this review.”
The move comes close to two months after the CFL’s team in Edmonton and the NFL’s team in Washington dropped their names in light of pressure across the sports world to eliminate racist or stereotypical aspects of their brand.
