WHL Playoffs: Blazers push Giants to the brink with win in Game 4

LANGLEY, B.C. — Logan Stankoven broke a 2-2 tie with less than three minutes left to play in regulation to help the Kamloops Blazers beat the Vancouver Giants 4-2 and take a 3-1 lead in their second-round WHL playoff series.

Stankoven scored at the 17:23 mark of the third period on the power play to give the Blazers the win. He also added an empty-netter at 19:52 to ensure there would be no Vancouver comeback.

Giants goalie Jesper Vikman made 39 saves in defeat.

Vancouver tied the game at 2-2 as Zack Ostapchuk got his second goal of the night at 6:21 of the final frame.

Luke Toporowski and Caedan Bankier scored the Blazers’ other two goals.

Game 5 between these two teams will go Friday as the Blazers look to finish the job at home in Kamloops.
