At least four Canadians will be competing for full status on the LPGA Tour later this year.
Yeji Kwon of Port Coquitlam, B.C., Monet Chun of Richmond Hill, Ont., Maddie Szeryk of London, Ont., and Josee Doyon of St-Georges-de-Beauce, Que., all finished in the top 35 and ties on Friday in the qualifying stage in Venice, Fla., earning spots in the final 90-hole qualifier in December.
The top 25 at the final qualifier, Dec. 5-9 in Mobile, Ala., earn LPGA Tour status for 2025.
Kwon, 18, was the top Canadian at the 72-hole qualifying stage, finishing her tournament in a tie for 10th at 10-under after a 1-under 71 on Friday. She rocketed up the leaderboard with a tournament-best 8-under 64 in the second round.
Kwon, who turned pro this summer, finished four strokes behind co-winners Mimi Rhodes of England and Adela Cernousek of France. The Canadian is the youngest player to advance to final stage.
Chun, Szeryk and Doyon all squeaked through, one shot ahead of the cutline at 4-under, which was good for a tie for 31st. Doyon and Chun both made birdies on their final hole to hit the number.
The 23-year-old Chun recently completed her senior season at the University of Michigan.
Szeryk, 28, didn't finish high enough in the LPGA standings this year to maintain her card.
Doyon, 31, turned pro in 2016.
