Canada's Savannah Grewal is in great position to earn her LPGA Tour card this week.
The 22-year-old from Mississauga, Ont. is tied for eighth at the third and final stage of the LPGA Q-Series after four rounds of the six-round event in Mobile, Ala.
Grewal, who turned pro prior to the third stage, is at 13 under par, eight strokes behind leader Robyn Choi of Australia.
The top 45 and ties earn LPGA Tour cards for 2024 with the top 20 getting better status.
Three Canadians made the 70-player cut for the final two rounds — Alena Sharp of Hamilton (6 under, tied for 40th) and Maddie Szeryk of London, Ont. (5 under, tied for 51st) are trying to regain preferred status on the top tour.
Grewal, who shot a 4-under 67 on Monday, finished her fourth year at Clemson University in South Carolina with a school-record 71.77 stroke average. She is ranked 121st in the world amateur golf rankings.
“I think honestly, just knowing that I'm good enough to compete out here is a big thing," she said. "I think that helps with the confidence for sure. I think just knowing that if I play my game and stay steady, I'm going to be right up there. I think I just wanted to kind of know where the cut line was at but also top 20, just to see what it might look like for the next two days.”
