Andrew McCutchen will continue to build his Pittsburgh Pirates legacy.
According to the team, McCutchen will return to the Pirates in 2025.
The 38-year-old McCutchen has already established himself as one of the greatest players in franchise history. He ranks ninth in games played, 10th in hits, seventh in doubles, fourth in home runs and seventh in RBIs.
He also became just the seventh player in Pirates history to win the NL MVP in 2013.
In 2024, McCutchen spent most of the season as Pittsburgh's designated hitter, only spending 21 innings of his 120 games in right field.
However, he was an above-league-average hitter, launching 20 home runs and driving in 50 runs while carrying a .739 OPS.
McCutchen spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Pirates before joining the San Francisco Giants in 2018. Over the next five seasons, he suited up for the Yankees, Phillies and Brewers before returning to Pittsburgh as a free agent in 2023.
The former 11th-overall pick is a five-time All-Star, four-time Silver Slugger Award winner and one-time Gold Glover and Roberto Clemente Award recipient.
