Angels outfielder Mike Trout is one of the best hitters in Major League Baseball, but his skills as a fantasy football league commissioner remain in question.
Speaking during ESPN's broadcast of the Angels-Mets game on Sunday night, Trout offered a few more details about the league he ran this past NFL season. You know, the one that prompted a pre-game altercation between Reds outfielder Tommy Pham and Giants outfielder Joc Pederson?
"That's a legendary fantasy football league right there," said Trout, who added he participates in four leagues, but created and ran this particular one for the first time this past season. "It's the talk of the town right now."
"There's definitely a waiting list. Everybody's calling and texting me, and saying, 'hey, what's up with this league?'" Said Trout, who revealed that the 12-team league had been won by Astros infielder Alex Bregman.
Pham took issue with a transaction made by Pederson and approached him during on-field warmups when the Reds hosted the Giants last month and slapped him. He was suspended three games and fined by MLB. Both Pederson and Pham acknowledged that "there was a lot of money involved."
During his interview, Trout went on to say that "I think we've got something brewing for next fantasy season. We got something brewing, a couple of the guys," before joking that it would probably be "getting another commissioner."
