Bo Bichette's return to the Toronto Blue Jays is seemingly on the horizon.
Following his second rehab game on Thursday with the triple-A Buffalo Bisons, the shortstop said he is going to fly to Cincinnati on Friday and expects to play Saturday against the Reds.
"I should be flying out tomorrow to Cincinnati, and be in the lineup on Saturday, I think." Bichette said to the media.
The Blue Jays will begin a three-game road set against the Reds on Friday.
Bichette followed up Wednesday's 2-for-3 performance with another promising outing on Thursday with the Bisons.
Bichette cracked another two hits, including an opposite-field home run in the bottom of the first inning, and played six innings at shortstop before Spencer Horwitz was inserted into the lineup to take his place. The 25-year-old previously played designated hitter in Wednesday's game.
In two games with the Bisons, Bichette has registered an .800 batting average and a 2.067 OPS.
Led by Bichette's three RBI, the Bisons defeated the Rochester Red Wings 7-1.
Bichette was placed on the 10-day injured list on Aug. 2 with right patellar tendinitis after tweaking his knee while rounding the bases two days earlier in a game against the Orioles.
Following Wednesday's outing, Bichette noted he wanted to see how he would fare playing in the field at shortstop, and that would likely determine his return to the major-league Toronto Blue Jays.
Relief pitchers Chad Green and Trevor Richards, who both pitched in Wednesday's contest, didn't make an appearance Thursday.
