Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette will miss Wednesday's rubber match against the Miami Marlins due to discomfort in his left thumb.
Bichette was initially slotted in to start at shortstop and bat second, but was then scratched by the Blue Jays and replaced in the lineup by Santiago Espinal, who will bat seventh. Whit Merrifield replaces Bichette as the second batter.
Bichette, 25, has 14 home runs and 46 RBIs so far this season with a .314 batting average.
Toronto looks to earn the series win over the Marlins after beating them 2-0 on Tuesday. Watch all the action on Sportsnet and SN NOW starting at noon ET/ 9 a.m. PT.
