The Toronto Blue Jays have activated left-handed pitcher Ryan Borucki from the 60-day injured list and designated right-handed reliever Joel Payamps for assignment.
Borucki had been on the injured list since May 14 with a forearm flexor strain in his pitching arm. The 27-year-old completed three rehab appearances with triple-A Buffalo before his activation and is available out of the bullpen Friday against the Rangers.
“It feels great just to be back,” Borucki said in an interview with Sportsnet’s Hazel Mae before the game against the Rangers. “It took a little bit longer than I thought but right now I’m feeling good and hopefully I can help as much as I can.”
Borucki has a 4.05 ERA with 14 strikeouts in 13 appearances out of the bullpen for the Blue Jays this season.
Payamps made 22 relief appearances for the Blue Jays this season, posting a 2.70 ERA and 22 strikeouts over 30 innings.
