The Toronto Blue Jays have activated right-handed pitcher Mitch White and optioned left-hander Foster Griffin to triple-A Buffalo, the team announced Friday.
White will start in Friday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays, interim manager John Schneider announced Thursday.
It will be White's seventh start and eighth appearance since he was acquired by the Blue Jays at the trade deadline.
White's last outing was also against the Rays on Sept. 13. In that game, a 4-2 Blue Jays loss, he pitched six innings and allowed three runs on seven hits.
The Blue Jays will be counting on White to provide innings over the final games of the regular season as they position their top-end starters for the best possible roles in the playoffs.
Griffin was recalled two days ago and pitched for the Blue Jays in Thursday's loss, allowing one hit over two innings.
