The Toronto Blue Jays added catching prospect Alejandro Kirk to their taxi squad and he will be joining the team in Miami ahead of their series with the Marlins.
Each MLB team is allowed to carry three players on their taxi squad during this unique 2020 season. The players can travel with the team but are not eligible for games and do not collect service time.
Teams are required to carry three catchers and Caleb Joseph has been on the Blue Jays taxi squad all season to maintain that quota. Who Kirk will be replacing when he joins the team remains unknown.
The 22-year-old played in 92 total games with the Lansing Lugnuts and Dunedin Blue Jays in single-A ball last season. He batted .290/.403/.465 to go with seven home runs and 44 RBI with both teams.
