Blue Jays add pitcher Adam Macko to 40-man roster ahead of deadline

The Toronto Blue Jays have added left-handed pitcher Adam Macko to their 40-man roster.

Getting Macko on the roster before Tuesday's deadline prevents him from being eligible in next month’s Rule 5 draft. Sportsnet's Shi Davidi reports that Macko is the only Rule 5 eligible player Toronto added to the 40-man roster.

Macko joined the Blue Jays from Seattle in the deal that brought in Erik Swanson and sent Teoscar Hernandez to the Mariners.

The 22-year-old appeared in 20 games with the Vancouver Canadians going 5-5 while registering a 4.81 ERA, 106 strikeouts and 40 walks through 86 innings.
