Bowden Francis, who went 4-1 in August in five starts for the Toronto Blue Jays, has been named the Pitcher of the Month for the American League by Major League Baseball.
During that stretch, the 28-year-old Francis posted a 1.05 earned-run average and struck out 39 batters, while walking just four. He took a no-hitter into the ninth inning against the Los Angeles Angels on Aug. 24 before Taylor Ward ended his outing with a solo home run.
Francis is 8-3 with a 3.66 ERA this season.
