Ahead of game two of three against the Boston Red Sox, the Toronto Blue Jays have made some pitching moves.
The organization announced on Tuesday that it has recalled left-handed pitched Easton Lucas from Triple-A Buffalo and has subsequently optioned right-hander Zach Pop to the Spring Training Complex.
Lucas, 28, was claimed by Toronto off waivers from the Detroit Tigers in August. He made six MLB appearances this season between the Tigers and Oakland Athletics while spending most of his time at the triple-A level. He has logged a 3-2 record in the minors with a 2.75 ERA with 73 strikeouts through 68.2 innings pitched.
The Miami Marlins originally selected the lefty reliever in the 14th round of the 2019 draft.
Meanwhile, Pop gets optioned after 58 appearances in his third season with the Blue Jays. The 28-year-old from Brampton, Ont., held a 5.59 ERA through that span with one save through 48.1 innings pitched.
First pitch between the Blue Jays and Red Sox is set for 7:07 p.m. ET / 4:07 p.m. PT in Toronto.
