Toronto Blue Jays reliever Chad Green left his rehab appearance at triple-A Buffalo after getting hit in the head with the ball on a throw from the catcher.
The incident occurred at the bottom of the fifth inning when catcher Tyler Heineman attempted to catch Worcester's Ryan Fitzgerald stealing second base and clipped Green on the head.
The former Yankee did not appear seriously injured, but was taken out of the game as a precaution.
Green has not appeared in a major league game in over a year after having undergone Tommy John surgery in June of 2022. The 31-year-old spent the previous seven seasons with the New York Yankees, having his best year in 2017 when he posted a 1.83 ERA and allowed just four home runs over 69.0 innings.
Green signed a two-year contract worth $8.5 million with the Blue Jays in January 2023, but has yet to make his debut with the team.
