Toronto Blue Jays reliever Chad Green is one step closer to returning to the big-league roster.
Manager John Schneider said the 32-year-old threw 12 pitches on Thursday and felt good, as reported by Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith.
The Blue Jays are currently deciding whether Green and Bowden Francis, who has been recovering from right forearm extensor tendinitis, need another Triple-A rehab appearance or not.
Green threw one inning for triple-A Buffalo on Sunday. He breezed through nine pitches, allowing one hit, no runs and no walks while striking out one batter.
He has been on the injured list since April 20 with a right teres major strain. He began the season with a 2.35 ERA and two saves through seven appearances for Toronto before being shut down with the injury.
In other positive news, Yariel Rodriguez, who was placed on the 15-day injured list with thoracic spine inflammation on April 30, is set to pitch again on Sunday in Buffalo. He is expected to throw 30-35 pitches.
