Toronto Blue Jays closer Jordan Romano has been named the American League's Reliever of the Month for July, MLB announced Tuesday. This is second time he has claimed the award in the 2022 season.
The Markham, Ont., native registered a 0.84 ERA, 12 strikeouts and seven saves. Opponents batted .114 against Romano in 10 appearances and 10.2 innings of work during the month.
On July 17 against the Kansas City Royals, Romano became the seventh pitcher in franchise history to save his 20th game before the All-Star Game
The 29-year-old set a new career high by saving his AL-leading 24th game of the season on
Sunday against the Detroit Tigers (23 saves in 2021).
Romano's bullpen mate Yimi Garcia also received votes for the award.
