Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen left Thursday's game in the middle of the sixth inning after he was hit by yet another pitch during an at-bat.
The team said he was removed from he game with a right-hand contusion and later indicated that an x-ray had come back negative.
Jansen initially stayed in the game after he was struck by a 2-2 pitch from Cleveland starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard in the hands and wrist area. Both manager John Schneider and the team trainer came out to assess the 28-year-old, who has been struck a career-high six times this season by a pitch.
But when the Blue Jays took to the field at the switchover, Alejandro Kirk was behind the plate, instead of Jansen.
Jansen has been struck three times in the last seven games and missed two starts in Boston after getting plunked on the wrist by Baltimore's Shintaro Fujinami last Wednesday.
