The Toronto Blue Jays' newest sensation, Davis Schneider, is back in the team's starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cleveland Guardians.
The Blue Jays will be hoping Schneider can spark their offence after they were shutout against the Guardians Tuesday in a 1-0 loss. Schneider was held out of the starting lineup and did not play in the loss.
He will play second base Wednesday.
Prior to Tuesday, Schneider played in all four contests for the Blue Jays since being called up from triple-A — the first four MLB games of his career.
The 24-year-old Schneider became the first player in MLB history to collect nine hits and two homers in his first three games.
The nine hits matched a modern MLB record that dated back to 1901. The only other major leaguer to do so was Coaker Triplett of the Chicago Cubs, who did it in April of 1938 against the Cincinnati Reds. Triplett had two doubles and a triple, but no home runs.
He finally cooled off in Monday's series opener against the Guardians, going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts batting from the leadoff spot.
You can watch the Blue Jays and Schneider take on the Guardians Wednesday live on Sportsnet and SN NOW at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
