X-rays done on Toronto Blue Jays infielder Santiago Espinal's wrist came back negative, according to the team.
Espinal suffered a right wrist contusion in the Blue Jays' game against the New York Yankees on Saturday, when he was hit by a 98 mph fastball thrown by pitcher Gerrit Cole. The ball caught Espinal on the inside of his wrist, resulting in his removal from the game.
The 28-year-old did not play on Sunday in the Blue Jays' 5-1 win over the Yankees.
Post-game, manager John Schneider said that although the x-rays were negative, the team plans to do further tests when they return to Toronto on Monday.
