Toronto Blue Jays slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was removed from Sunday's win over the Cincinnati Reds with left middle-finger discomfort, the team announced.
Manager John Schneider later said that the club does not expect Guerrero Jr. will miss any time with the injury.
Guerrero Jr. appeared to injure himself in the fourth inning on a swing and miss while at the plate. The first baseman swung so hard, he let go of his bat and it hit the backstop.
Afterwards, Guerrero Jr. appeared to be favouring his left hand, but after a quick conversation with the trainer he stayed in the at-bat. He would eventually walk and then come home to score on a George Springer home run.
When the Blue Jays came out on defence in the fifth inning, Guerrero Jr. had been replaced at first base by Cavan Biggio.
The 24-year-old superstar has 18 home runs and 72 RBI for the Blue Jays this season.
The Blue Jays have an off-day on Monday before beginning a three-game series at Baltimore Tuesday.
