The Toronto Blue Jays made all-star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. a late scratch on Wednesday against the New York Yankees because of right knee discomfort.
Manager John Schneider told reporters that the team will no more about his condition Thursday after learning the results of an MRI.
"We got an MRI, it's just right knee discomfort right now," Schneider said. "It was just the way he felt hitting, compared to yesterday, so obviously want to be careful with him."
Guerrero, who was scheduled to be the designated hitter, ran gingerly to first base on an error in his final at-bat on Tuesday. Ernie Clement replaced Guerrero as a pinch-runner.
After Tuesday's game, Schneider played down any concern about Guerrero.
"He's a little banged up but he's good," Schneider said. "He's feeling every game he's been playing right now, but he's good."
Last week, Guerrero broke out of a power slump with home runs in three consecutive games.
While his numbers are down from previous years, Guerrero still leads the team with 24 home runs and 90 RBIs.
