Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Joey Loperfido is having some fun this American Thanksgiving.
Topps, a trading card company, discovered that the 25-year-old wrote "DM me" on the back of his 1/1 MLB debut patch card when he was with the Houston Astros.
In addition, Loperfido signed the front of the card, added the date (April 30), alongside "1st MLB hit 2 RBI" to commemorate his big moment.
After Topps posted about Loperfido’s inscription, the player himself responded, saying that whoever finds the card can join his Thanksgiving celebrations.
While the writing was meant to help Loperfido find the card later on so he could buy it back, it's now the subject of a "hide-and-seek" for baseball fans and card collectors.
The Astros selected the American in the seventh round of the 2021 MLB draft, and he went on to make his professional debut in 2021 with the Single–A Fayetteville Woodpeckers.
In July, Loperfido, Jake Bloss and Will Wagner were traded to the Blue Jays in exchange for pitcher Yusei Kikuchi.
In the 2024 MLB regular season, Loperfido slashed .214/.264/.350.
