As they prepare for their season opener Thursday, the Toronto Blue Jays continue to monitor a few injured players.
Speaking to the media Wednesday, manager John Schneider gave updates.
• Relievers Erik Swanson (elbow) and Ryan Burr (shoulder) each played catch on Tuesday.
• Daulton Varsho (shoulder) played centre-field in a minor-league game on Wednesday, though he did not throw.
• Starter Max Scherzer (thumb) remains on track to make his Blue Jays debut on Saturday.
“Still going in the right direction with how he's feeling each day," Schneider said. "He's going to get off the mound here this afternoon and assuming all goes well, like it has been, he'll be ready to roll Saturday."
