Blue Jays' Marcus Semien named AL player of the month for May

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. recorded a career-best four hits as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Miami Marlins 5-1.

Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Marcus Semien has been named the American League player of the month for May.

Semien was one of the hottest hitters in baseball in May, posting a MLB-high 2.3 WAR in 28 games. The 30-year-old hit .368/.429/.702 during the month with eight home runs and 22 RBIs.

The 2019 AL MVP finalist joined the Blue Jays from the Oakland Athletics in free agency, signing a one-year, $18-million contract.
