Blue Jays' Mayza returns from injured list, Pop sent down to Buffalo

Blue Jays pitching coach Pete Walker discuss how much of a boost he expects in the bullpen with the return of lefty Tim Mayza, who they once thought would be out for the rest of the season.

Toronto Blue Jays left-handed reliever Tim Mayza has been reinstated from the 15-day injured list and will be active for Tuesday's game against the Boston Red Sox.

To make room for Mayza on the roster, the Blue Jays have optioned Canadian right-hander Zach Pop to triple-A Buffalo.

Mayza has been out since dislocating his right shoulder on Aug. 6. Following an attempt to grab a bunted ball during a safety squeeze play, he collided with Minnesota Twins base runner Nick Gordon.

One of the key arms in the Toronto bullpen all season, Mayza is 5-0 with a 2.88 ERA, 27 strikeouts and nine walks in 34.1 innings this season.

Pop, acquired from the Miami Marlins at the trade deadline, has a 2.70 ERA in 6.2 innings for Toronto.
