When the Blue Jays play for the sweep in Boston on Sunday, the player who is (jokingly) being referred to as "Babe Schneider" will be batting third.
Davis Schneider, the second baseman who was called up by Toronto on Friday, has gone 5-for-8 in his first two big-league games, including a homer in his first MLB at-bat. The 24-year-old has hit seventh and eighth in the Blue Jays' lineup, but on Sunday he will be batting third.
The game can be seen on Sportsnet and SN NOW at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT.
Brandon Belt, who was 2-for-4 in Saturday's win, will get the start at first base and hit second again, while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. sits. It's Belt who has playfully dubbed Schneider "Babe Schneider" over how the rookie has dominated at Fenway Park.
George Springer, who only recently broke out of an 0-for-35 slump, will DH. Springer was 4-for-4 on Saturday and also had a hit on Friday night. Cavan Biggio, who has not played since coming on as a pinch hitter in Thursday's 6-1 loss to the Orioles, gets the start in right field.
Kevin Kiermaier gets his first start of the series in centre field, after coming on as a defensive replacement the last two games in the eighth and ninth inning. It was Kiermaier's catch at the wall on Saturday and subsequently throw to second to double off Reese McGuire that secured the second win of the series.
Chris Bassitt (10-6) gets the start on the mound for Toronto.
