Blue Jays option Gosuke Katoh, Bowden Francis to triple-A Buffalo

Blue Jays rookie Gosuke Katoh describes the feelings he had after getting his first career MLB hit against the Red Sox.

The Toronto Blue Jays have optioned infielder Gosuke Katoh and right-handed pitcher Bowden Francis to triple-A Buffalo.

The moves came following Toronto's 3-2 victory over the Houston Astros at home Sunday.

Katoh made his MLB debut this season after spending the past eight years in the minors. The 27-year-old got his first hit in the majors on April 27 with a double off of Boston Red Sox pitcher Michael Wacha.

Francis, 26, made his debut in the big leagues during the same game pitching 2/3 of an innings giving up one hit, zero earned runs and recording one strikeout.

The Blue Jays (15-8) open a three-game set against the division-leading New York Yankees (16-6) on Monday night at the Rogers Centre. Coverage begins with Blue Jays Central at 6:30 p.m. ET / 3 p.m. PT on Sportsnet ONE and Sportsnet NOW.
