Toronto Blue Jays reliever Chad Green is being placed on the injured list and will be replaced on the major-league roster by Nate Pearson for Saturday's game against the San Diego Padres, manager John Schneider announced.
Green has a 2.35 ERA, two saves and seven strikeouts over 7.2 innings this season, but hasn't pitched since Monday against the New York Yankees due to shoulder soreness.
Schneider said he will go on the injured list with a right teres major strain.
Pearson was optioned to triple-A on Tuesday after Erik Swanson and Jordan Romano returned from their rehab stints. The 27-year-old right-hander had yet to allow a run in 6.1 innings and had struck out nine hitters before being sent down.
He did not appear in any games with the Buffalo Bisons and last pitched with Toronto last Sunday, striking out three in the ninth inning of a win against the Colorado Rockies.
