The Toronto Blue Jays have placed pitcher Alek Manoah on the 10-day injured list due to a right back contusion.
The injury comes after Manoah slipped and fell down rain-soaked dugout steps at Sahlen Field and bruised his back, according to manager Charlie Montoyo. He’ll miss his Tuesday start against the Boston Red Sox.
The Blue Jays also placed infielder Breyvic Valera on the family medical emergency list.
In corresponding moves, Toronto recalled pitcher Thomas Hatch and outfielder Jonathan David from Triple-A Buffalo.

Manoah’s placement on the injured list is retroactive July 16, meaning he could return as soon as next Monday.
Manoah, Toronto’s first-round pick (11th overall) in the 2019 MLB Draft, has been a revelation in his first big-league season, compiling a 2-1 record with a 2.90 ERA and 52 strikeouts across 40.1 innings.
