Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Erik Swanson has been placed on the 15-day injured list with thoracic spine inflammation after having to leave Saturday's game early.
The right-hander bent over in apparent discomfort after delivering a pitch to the third batter he faced, Kole Calhoun, with one out in the seventh inning and departed shortly after.
Swanson, 29, is 3-2 with a 3.10 ERA and a 1.086 WHIP in 58 innings pitched this season. According to Sportsnet's Arden Zwelling, Swanson's injury is considered to be minimal and he could be throwing again from the mound within 10 days.
The club recalled right-hander Jay Jackson from triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move Sunday.
Jackson is 3-0 with a 1.64 ERA. The 35-year-old has a 0.818 WHIP in 22 innings this year.
The Blue Jays face the Guardians in the series finale on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. ET / 10:30 a.m. PT in a game that can be seen on Sportsnet and SN NOW.
