It didn't take long for Toronto Blue Jays infield prospect Orelvis Martinez to make an impact at triple-A Buffalo.
In his second at-bat of his debut at the minor leagues' top level, Martinez, 21, cranked a two-run homer off Syracuse Mets starter Tylor Megill in the third inning on Tuesday.
The shot to left field on a 3-2 pitch put the Bisons up 7-2.
Martinez was hitting sixth and playing third base.
The two-run homer ended up being his only hit of the night as he finished 1-for-5 from the plate with one strikeout. The Bisons went on to win the game 13-4 to improve their overall record to 43-47.
The Blue Jays' No. 4-ranked prospect was promoted from double-A New Hampshire on Monday.
Playing with double-A New Hampshire for the second year in a row, Martinez was slashing .226/.339/.485 with 17 homers and 46 RBI in 70 games.
His slashing numbers are all better than last year.
