Toronto Blue Jays prospect Spencer Horwitz has been named the International League Player of the Week, thanks to a six-game series that saw him go 15 for 28 and hit .536.
Horwitz, who was selected by the Blue Jays in the 24th round of the 2019 draft, had three homers and nine RBI last week for the Buffalo Bisons, Toronto's AAA-affiliate. That included a five-hit game.
The 25-year-old is hitting .319 this season, which leads the Bisons, and was named the Jays' No. 14 prospect prior to the season by Baseball America.
Horwitz made his big-league debut for the Blue Jays on June 18 against Texas, collecting his first MLB hit and scoring a run. He went 2-for-8 with Toronto before being sent back to Buffalo. His slash line this season with the Bisons is .319/.432/.464.
