Blue Jays recall Moreno, Pop; move White to Bisons, place Hernandez on paternity list

The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled catcher Gabriel Moreno and pitcher Zach Pop from Triple-A Buffalo Bisons, optioned pitcher Mitch White to Buffalo and placed outfielder Teoscar Hernández on the paternity list, the team announced Wednesday.

Moreno joins the team after catcher Zack Collins was claimed off waivers by the Pittsburgh Pirates, and has a batting average this season of .276 with a .300 OBO and .593 OPS in 58 at-bats for the Blue Jays.

White has been optioned to the Bisons after recording a 1-6 record this season with a 5.09 ERA, 69 strikeouts and a 1.43 WHIP in 81.1 innings pitched after the Blue Jays acquired him from the Los Angeles Dodgers ahead of the Trade Deadline, when Ross Stripling was placed on the IL.

Pop was acquired at the deadline, with him and Anthony Bass moving from the Marlins to Toronto for prospect Jordan Groshans.

Hernandez has a .263 batting average this season, recording 20 home runs, 64 RBI and six stolen bases with a .791 OPS in 414 at-bats this season for the Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays are expecting Hernandez to rejoin the club on Saturday in Texas. His wife, Jennifer, is due to give birth to the couple's third son.
