The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled right-handed pitcher Nate Pearson from triple-A Buffalo.
Pearson, who will be active for Friday's game against the Boston Red Sox, has made 33 relief appearances for the Blue Jays this season. He holds a 5-2 record with a 5.18 ERA and 41 strikeouts over 40 innings.
To make room for Pearson on the roster, the Blue Jays optioned RHP Bowden Francis to triple-A Buffalo. Francis has played in 20 games with a 1-0 record, 1.73 ERA and 35 strikeouts over 36.1 innings.
Toronto (80-67) is reeling from a four-game series sweep at the hands of the Texas Rangers.
