The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled right-handed pitcher Brett de Geus from triple-A Buffalo.
De Geus will be active for Wednesday's game against the Boston Red Sox.
The 26-year-old from Pleasanton, Calif., was claimed off waivers from the Miami Marlins on Sept. 12 and has yet to pitch for the Blue Jays.
He has made 11 relief appearances in the majors this season with the Seattle Mariners and Marlins and holds a 0-2 record, 5.00 ERA and six strikeouts over nine innings. De Geus was designated for assignment by the Mariners on Aug. 2 and claimed off waivers by the Marlins three days later.
The Blue Jays also optioned right-handed pitcher Tommy Nance to the spring training complex.
Nance, 33, went 0-3 with a 4.09 ERA and 19 strikeouts over 22 innings in 20 relief appearances with the Blue Jays this season.
