After appealing his three-game suspension, Toronto Blue Jays reliever Genesis Cabrera will sit for just two games starting Tuesday, Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith reports.
Cabrera was handed a three-game suspension and a fine for his role in an altercation with Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Jose Caballero on Saturday.
Cabrera shoved Caballero in the jaw following a verbal exchange at third base when the two came together after a play at the bag to end the seventh inning. Caballero’s momentum carried him into Cabrera, he raised his hands asking what happened, Cabrera did the same and then pushed his opponent.
Appealing the decision allowed Cabrera to continue to pitch out of the bullpen. The 27-year-old last appeared in the series opener against the Houston Astros on Monday, where he allowed a pair of home runs in one inning of work.
